The French Resistance (French: La Résistance) was a collective name of insurgency organizations and movements that fought against the Third Reich's occupation of France during the Second World War/WWII.
They fought alongside the Allied Powers and helped facilitate their invasion of Normandy during the early 1940s.
The French Resistance were not a traditional military army, and were made of mostly civilian combatants, who specialized in guerrilla warfare, in an effort to drive the Wehrmacht from France.
